Information for Parents
Discussion Forum - There is a wealth of information available on my discussion forums.  They are password-protected; you may register for an account and you will receive access to view your child's class board.  The discussion forum is where all daily class resources (PowerPoints, handouts, and other such materials) will be posted.  You must return this form to me before your account will be activated to ensure that only current parents and students have access.

Checking Grades - Unfortunately, with the changeover to Infinite Campus, we will not have an Internet-based system this year for you to check your child's grades online.  There are several methods you can use to stay on top of your child's grade.  I will be giving out grade tally sheets each quarter that list all of the possible points for the quarter to help your student keep track.  If you'd like a copy, they are downloadable from the discussion forums.  You may also use the forums to send me a private message, e-mail me, or call the school.  Please keep in mind that if I am in class, I will not be able to take a call to discuss a student due to confidentiality issues.

Classroom Procedures/Policies - All classroom procedures and policies are outlined on your student's syllabus, available by clicking on the link above.  I do enforce all school rules in addition to the policies detailed in each syllabus.

E-mail - If you send an e-mail and do not receive a response, please call to ensure that it was received.  There are some e-mail domains that are blocked from the school servers.

Teaching Philosophy - I truly believe that everyone can learn--and I am fully aware that we all learn in different ways.  To me, the role of a classroom teacher is not that different from a zookeeper.  A zookeeper is in charge of many valuable, exotic, and diverse animals and is responsible for knowing how to care for each so that all will thrive.  Similarly, I have been entrusted with the care of young minds--a precious commodity--and it is my responsibility to do what I can to help create an environment in which they can thrive.  I am always happy to work with parents and students to find a solution to problems students are facing.  Please feel free to contact me; if you'd like to come in for a conference, call the Guidance office and they can schedule one at a time that will suit.

I look forward to working with you.
