Application Process

Your application process begins when you download the materials above.  Begin by reading the rules and regulations.  Share them with your parents.  Give your parents the parent letter, and be sure that they sign it.  Without a parent/guardian signature, your application will not be considered.

Fill out the student data sheet and survey as carefully and thoroughly as you can.  You are, in effect, competing for this position--so be sure to write neatly, spell correctly, and so on.  Be honest about your abilities--if there's something you don't know how to do, that does not necessarily mean you won't be selected.  If, however, a lot of training will be necessary, I need to know this before we begin work next school year.

You may select pages from the 2008, 2009, or 2010 Maroon for your audition.

Recommendation forms are very important, but are often the last turned in.  Please give these forms to your chosen people early and inquire often as to whether or not they have been sent in.  You must return five recommendation forms.  At least three of those must be from current teachers; at least one must be from an English teacher.  Ask teachers to send these forms directly to me, please.

Finally, in regard to the selection process for the editorial staff:  once the staff has been finalized, students will be considered for various positions on the editorial staff of the yearbook and newspaper.  Priority consideration will of course be given to seniors but if another student is better qualified, he or she will receive the position.  More information about this process will be distributed when staffing is final.
